360 days of planning and preparation are at an end and the 37th Bramham can be relegated to the history books. It has been a fantastic five days - 31 equestrian events, over 300 horses, over 56,500 spectators and lots of ice cream! Shame the great weather didn't hold for another 24 hours, but we can't arrange everything!
It will take a few days for the dust to settle to fully appreciate how successful the past few days have been, but it would rank amongst one of the best Bramhams ever in my book. So many highlights for me, and I'm not sure which one to rank as my favourite.
Pippa's win in the CCI*** was a real coup, and it was fantastic to see her back at the top. She's always been a regular competitor with us and we hope to see her back again and again and winning of course! Ian set a challenge and she rose to it - as did the youngster Donatien Schauly - how amazing was he?!
The show jumping classes are such an integral part of Bramham and the crowds love them. It was fantastic to see a Yorkshire win in the Bramham Classic by Louise Whitaker with Dazzle II and Daniel Moseley wowed the spectators to take the Six Bar. Today's Wetherby Skip Services Grand Prix was claimed by Peter Murphy - may I add that Pippa Funnell was sixth! Some say she's braver riding in this than tackling Ian's cross country!
My final major task will be to write hundreds of thank you letters which is a major task but one I happily do as our volunteers and suppliers are such a vital part of the large jigsaw of the Event and a letter is a small token of appreciation for the job they do.
The site clear up will commence in earnest on Monday and by the weekend you would probably hardly know an Event of this scale had taken place in the Park. Planning for next year is getting underway already, with ‘wash up' type meetings being planned with various contractors to see how some things can be improved upon and altered for next year - it really is a year round job putting on an Event such as this! For me now, well I'm looking forward to catching up on some much needed sleep!
