Photo Competition Winner is Decided...
Following a fantastic response to the Photo Competition to find the 2010 Programme Cover, we have finally decided upon a winner.
Fiona Parsons' photograph of Ruth Burnard and Godington Haarlem jumping the Barrels Combination caught our eye from the very beginning, and having produced a ‘mock up' of the front cover using this photograph it was decided that it had everything to make a great cover.

The photograph is well planned, showing almost perfect symmetry, together with absolute concentration from both horse and rider. The colours are crisp and clean, with good definition between the subject, and the background in the picture.
Fiona said that she was delighted to win the competition as she has only recently discovered her passion for photography. "I only got the camera 18 months ago and love taking photos wherever I go. I had a fantastic day at Bramham International Horse Trials, and am surprised and delighted to win. I'm already looking forward to the 2010 Event to take some more pictures".
We have chosen two runners up. Carol Stevens from Leeds with her picture of Nicola Wilson during the dressage phase:

The other runner up is Stephen Robertson, also from Leeds, with a great photo of Pippa Funnell's Ensign on the cross country:

It was an incredibly hard competition to judge, with over 360 excellent photos to choose from. We took various factors into account, including the subject, the relevance to the Event itself, the ‘feeling' the picture had and we also had to take into account how the text on the front of the programme would fit with the picture. We had all ear marked one particular picture that we thought would be the best, and actually when it came to adding the text and logos, it just didn't work. This photo will however be found in next year's Programme, as will many of the other superb entries.
We are delighted with the result, and very much look forward to you seeing the winning photo on the front cover of the Programme for the 2010 Event (3rd - 6th June 2010). Don't forget to bring your cameras again; you never know... the 2011 front cover could be your photo!
