Bramham Joins with Breakthrough Breast Cancer

The Organisers of Bramham International Horse Trials are delighted to announce that their nominated charity for this year's event, 3 - 6 June 2010, is Breakthrough Breast Cancer. A pioneering charity dedicated to the prevention, treatment and ultimate eradication of breast cancer, Breakthrough funds ground-breaking research, campaigns for better services and treatments and raises awareness of breast cancer throughout the UK.

Event Director Nicholas Pritchard commented; "We wanted to support a charity which many of us can relate to and with nearly 46,000 women and around 300 men diagnosed with breast cancer annually in Britain, Breakthrough was an obvious choice.  It's something that has touched so many lives and we want to help them during the event to raise awareness of their valuable work as well as collecting money to help fund their research, campaigns and education.  I hope all our visitors will get behind the charity and support them in any way possible during the event."

For further information about Breakthrough or breast cancer visit http://www.breakthrough.org.uk/ or call the charity's free telephone number on 08080 100 200.  The charity will have an extensive presence throughout the event and they need your help - if you can spare some time during the four days to collect money, they'd love to hear from you.

Breakthrough Supporter Liz MacPherson shares her story:

"Following the death of my sister in law, Judy, from breast cancer in 1993, at the age of 38, I decided to take up the challenge of supporting Breakthrough in whatever way I could.  I could never have imagined that this decision would change my life so radically - Breakthrough has become a passion for me and it has been a huge privilege to be a small part of this amazing organisation over the last 16 years.  I have watched Breakthrough become a major player in the charity world - it is a dynamic, life changing, groundbreaking organisation, yet it retains a real "family feel".  Judy would have been so thrilled to have seen the progress we have made since 1991, when she appeared on the charity's promotional video.

I am so excited that the Bramham Horse Trials have decided to support Breakthrough this year, particularly as I have recently moved to Yorkshire and now live within a couple of miles of Bramham Park!  I am sure that the combination of Breakthrough's and Bramham Park's vision, talent and passion will result in a brilliant event in June."
